In addition to designing/spec'ing out new features and front-end development, my personal goal is to train up the other designers in my team. I would critique their designs and push them to reach a new level. I would constantly point them to real-life examples and models that are related to their projects. It's very rewarding to see designers start picking up on finer levels of detail, and to finally distinguish good design from the mediocre.

I was designing almost 100% of the time. On top of delivering detailed hi-fi mockups, my job is to communicate to different members of the team about what UI decisions were made and why. I believe it is vital for everyone – from developer to QA to the product manager – to be on the same page.

Designed and developed their API site, a website resource for third party developers. I transformed a boring and esoteric doc guide to a beautiful and minimalistic work of art.

Designed a web application that gives participants within an organization to help raise money for particular events. Much time was invested into connecting the workflow between disparate pieces (messaging, contact list, reports, etc) while maintaining consistent design and patterns. Collaborated heavily with back-end and front-end developers to ensure that everything feels right.

San Francisco Aids Foundation's revenue went up as much as 60% since using this application.

Redesigned a portal that (1) is more aligned with company colors and (2) is easier to scan and view multiple centers.

Designed and developed a filtering reports tool. Previous tool was based heavily on engineering language and logic, which made it very difficult to understand for the average person. I decided to that the rules contain natural language, thereby making the entire process much more intuitive and natural.

Period

Jan 2005 - Jan 2007

My job was split 50-50 between design and front-end development. I made our application more usable to our clients, and I developed in Prototype. I've abstracted most of my projects back into the main code branch, allowing for other front-end developers to use.
